She Was Angry

Her sadness was replaced by anger as she slipped his phone into one of her pockets and left the office. She knew that her mother was a sucker for a good Denny’s lunch, which was why she decided to head to the one close to John’s work.
It was just before noon when she left the house, determined to confront the two people who had hurt her the most.

The drive to Denny’s was short despite the lunchtime traffic, but as soon as she entered the parking lot, she spotted her husband’s car. Just as predicted, John and Margery had decided to meet at Denny’s. 
She quickly stepped out of her car, ready to confront them. She couldn’t remember the last time she had felt so utterly betrayed. She was going to make them regret what they had done.

It was just after 12 p.m. when she stepped through the doors of that Denny’s. From where she stood, she could see her mother’s silver hair. “Can I get you a table for one?” a waitress asked at the entrance, but Stephanie ignored her and began walking toward their table.
They didn’t notice Stephanie walking straight toward them as John took Margery’s hand into his own and kissed her knuckles.

She Showed Up

Stephanie thought she was going to be sick as she watched the display of affection. But she continued marching toward them. But as soon as she stopped in front of their table, the two of them looked up, their smiles dropping the second they saw her.
“Honey, what- what are you doing here?” John stumbled over his words, trying his hardest to fake a smile.
